Education
Oko Kawada began the study of Chinese classics from Totsuan Ohashi and later at Edo continued his studies under such mastres as Tenzan Fujimori and Sokuken Yasui.
Career
After the Meiji Restoration (1868) Oko Kawada joined the Histirical Compilation Bureau and later founded a private school in Ushigome. He served the Imperial Household (1881) and was appointed professor at Tokyo University.
