Oleg Vinogradov was born on 1st of August in 1937 in Leningrad (at present Saint- Petersburg).
He began to study ballet late. In 1958 he graduated from the Leningrad Choreography School (now the Academy of Russian Ballet named after A. Ya. Vaganova) (teacher A. I. Pushkin).
In 1967 he graduated from veriety department of GITIS (Moscow).
From 1958- 1965 was an artist, then since 1963 was the assistant of the ballet master, then became the ballet master. Also was a theatrical artist of Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theater, where he held his first productions: separate items in the ballet “The Sleeping Beauty” G. Garaev (ballet master P. Gusev) and new reduction of the 1th ballet scene of “Swan Lake” P. Tchaikovsky.
From 1967 till 1972 was the ballet master in The Mariinsky Theatre. From 1973 till 1977 was a leading ballet master in The Mikhailovsky Theatre. From 1977 till 2001 (in fact till 1997) was an artistic director of the ballet troupe and a leading ballet master of The Mariinsky Theatre.
Worked as a stage-designer on several ballets. He created sketches of costumes for ballet “The Sylph” H. Løvenskiold.
Set the ballets in Odessa, Minsk, Riga, Tallinn, Frunze, Dresden, Budapest, Sofia, Berlin.
Since 1990 was an artistic director of Universal Ballet Academy in Washington (USA). Since that year was an artistic director of the troupe “Universal ballet” in Seoul (The Republic of Korea). He was a director of this troupe about 20 years.
On February 2008 was a dean of the directing department of the musical theatre, an artistic director of The N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov Saint Petersburg State Conservatory.
