Nikita Dolgushin was born on 8th of November in 1938 in Leningrad (at present Saint-Peterburg).
In 1959-1961 worked in Kirov Theatre (at present Mariinsky Theatre), where he played leading roles in every classical ballet, but having a skeptical attitude towards artistic experiments he showed interest in modern choreography than in cooperation with the most famous troupe of the USSR and the world. In 1961-1966 he, leading soloist of the Novosibirsk Theatre, created musical and choreography works with a great success and cooperate with P. Gusev, Y. Grigorovich and others. In 1966- 1968 worked in Moiseyev's State Concert Ensemble ( at present The Moscow Classical Ballet).
In 1968-1983 worked in The Mikhailovsky Theatre. In 1971 he put a ballet “ Romeo and Juliet” based on the P. Chaikovscky music, in which he played a leading role of Romeo.
He toured with choreographic miniature of L. Yakobson, H. Limon, R. Peti, G.Kranko, K. Goleyzovskiy, M. Murmad, G. Aleksidze, L. Lebedeva.
In 1964 in Novosibirsk Theatre made his debut as a ballet master in ballet of “ The Ice-Maiden” based on A. Green music. During his work in The Mikhailovsky Theatre wrote a one-act ballet and took parts in it. Also put a ballet in The National Academic Grand Opera and Ballet Theatre of the Republic of Belarus in Minsk.
From 1983 till 2001 was Head of the Department of Ballet Directing in The theater of opera and ballet of the St. Petersburg conservatory of the name N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov. In 1990 was the artistic leader of the ballet company in the St. Petersburg conservatory. Also he was a teacher of T. Stepanova.
From 1997 till 2006 was the chief ballet master Samara Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre. Put ballets such as “La Esmeralda” (1997), “Le Pavillon d'Armide”, “The Firebird”, “La Sylphide” (1999), “Sleeping Beauty” (2000), “Carmen Suite” (2003).
From 2007 worked as tutor in The Mikhailovsky Theatre. From 2009 till 2011 was a chairman of the artistic council of the theater.
Nikita Alexsandrovich Dolgushin died on 10th of June in 2012 in Saint-Petersburg after the serious illness. Buried in Smolensky Cemetery.
