Olga Mikhailovna Peterson was born on May 25, 1856 in Voronezh, Russia. Daughter of Mikhail Peterson.
She graduated from the St. Petersburg Kolomna gymnasium (1873), where she worked afterwards. Also she is a graduate of the history and philology department of the Higher Women's Courses (1882).
From 1884, she runed a private female educational institution in St. Petersburg (in 1910–1917, a private gymnasium). Author of literature reviews on pedagogy and foreign language teaching. She spoke several European languages, translated and retold works of foreign authors, among which are: Henry Longfellow (she compiled the compilation "Longfellow and his works", St. Petersburg, 1911), Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson, Daniel Defoe, Selma Lagerlef and others. She is the author of a biographical feature article "Cervantes, his life and works" (St. Petersburg, 1901). The most significant work of Peterson is the book "Western European Epic and Medieval Romance in Retellings and Abridged Translations from Genuine Texts ..." (St. Petersburg, 1896–1900; volume 1-3; in collaboration with E.V. Balobanova).
He was a Petersburg chief architect in the period from 1876 till 1879.
