Member of faculty College Civ. Engineering, Cornell Univercity, 1903-1920, head department of topographic and geodetic engineering, 1911-1920, professor geodesy and astronomy, 1916-1920. Engineering supervisor, J.G. White Engineering Corporation, 1920.

Dean colls. of engineering, architecture, and chemistry, University of Minnesota, 1920-1936. Dean of administration, University of Minnesota, Institute of Technology, 1936-1944. Dean emeritus since 1944.

Surveyor and chief of party to United States commissioner for demarcation of boundary between Alaska and Canada, 1904-1911.
