Friend, Oscar Jerome was born on January 8, 1897 in St. Louis, Missouri, United States. Son of Joseph and Virginia Lillian (Dooley) Friend.

Education

Education high school and junior college work.

Career

In drug business with father, Fort Smith, Arkansas, 1916-1923. Freelance writer, 1923-1928. On death of father returned to pharmacy (1928-1937) to wind up estate.

Editor of western and detective magazines in Standard and Better Publs. Orgns., 1937-1944; moved to California, resumed freelance work, 1944. Returned to New York, 1948, purchased Otis Kline Associates (literature agency).

Science fiction editor Frederick Fell, Inc., 1950-1952.
