Ota Zensai was born in 1759 in Bingo Province, Japan.

Education

Ota studied under Koton Yoshida who emphasized historical research.

Career

Ota served in the Fukuyama Clan and rose to the rank of toshiyori, or senior adviser. He wrote many books and compiled a dictionary of proverbs.
