After graduation from the university Otaki entered Kogo Ginko (Industrial Bank of Japan) in 1937. Then he transferred to Fukko Kinyu Kinko (Rehabilitation Financing Bank). Otaki held additional posts of director of Japan Industrial Council and councilor of Federation of Economic Organizations.
