In 1932, P. V. Krishna Iyer graduated from Madras University with a Master of Arts degree (1st class). In 1948, he received a Doctor of Philosophy degree at Oxford University.
P. V. Krishna Iyer was a specialist in mathematical statistics and studied cumulants and statistical quality control. In 1934-1946, he worked as a statistician at the Indian Agricultural Research Institute. In 1948-1952, he was a professor of statistics at the Indian Council of Agricultural Research. Since 1952, worked as an assistant director at the Defence Science Laboratory in Delhi. P. V. Krishna Iyer was elected as a fellow of the National Institute of Sciences of India and belonged to the members of the Indian Science Congress Association.
P. V. Krishna Iyer toured Western Europe and the Middle East. He was especially interested in statistical methods for analyzing telepathic experiments.
