Robey was born on October 31, 1952 in New York City, New York, United States; the daughter of Carl J. H. Gehron and Nancy (Plumer) Gehron.
Robey received a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology from Susquehanna University in 1974. Three years later she earned her Master of Science degree in biochemistry and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in cell biology in 1979 from Catholic University.
Robey began her career as a biological aide at Laboratory of Developmental Biology and Anomalies of the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research in 1974. Five years later she took a position of an individual national research service awardee of Genetics and Biochemistry Branch at the National Institute of Arthritis and Metabolic Diseases.
In 1981, Pamela held the position of a staff fellow of Retinal and Ocular Connective Tissue Diseases Section at the Neuroscience Education Institute. Also she served as a senior staff fellow of Mineralized Tissue Research Branch at the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research from 1983 to 1987. Then in 1987, Robey became a research biologist of Bone Research Branch at the same Institute. Five years later she was appointed a chief of Skeletal Biology Section and Bone Research Branch at the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research, where she worked until 1996. She served as a chief of Bone Research Branch at that Institute from 1994 to 1996. The same years Pamela was an acting chief of Skeletal Clinical Studies Unit at Bone Research Branch of the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research.
Since 1997 she has been a chief of Craniofacial and Skeletal Diseases Branch at the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research. Robey was an acting chief of Skeletal Clinical Studies Unit at Craniofacial and Skeletal Diseases Branch at the same institute. In 2004, Robey was appointed an acting scientific director at the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research. Also in 2004, she held the position of an acting Chief of Matrix Metalloproteinase Unit at Craniofacial and Skeletal Diseases Branch at that university.
Since 2008 she has been a co-coordinator at NIH (National Institutes of Health) Bone Marrow Stromal Cell Transplantation Center. Since 2010 Pamela has served as an acting scientific director at NIH Stem Cell Unit. In addition, since 2011 she has been a chief of Matrix Metalloproteinase Section at Craniofacial and Skeletal Diseases Branch of the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research.
Robey is a member of American Society of Bone and Mineral Research, American Society of Cell Biology, American Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.
On January 7, 1977 Pamela Robey married Frank A. Robey III. They have 2 children.
