Cynthia Pinto da Luz is a Brazilian biologist, scientist. She is a Scientific Senior Researcher of the Institute of Botany in São Paulo.

Pinto da Luz was born on January 5, 1964 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; the daughter of Luiz Heitor Horta Barbosa Pinto da Luz and Ana Maria Fernandes Pinto da Luz.
Education
Pinto da Luz graduated from Santa Ursula University in 1985. Twelve years later she received her Master of Science degree and Doctor of Philosophy in Geology in 2003 from Federal University of Rio de Janeiro.
Pinto da Luz has been a Scientific Senior Researcher of Botanic Institute in Sao Paulo since 2005. She also holds a position as a teacher at the post-graduate course of this institution.
Pinto da Luz is known for his research in applied botany. His scientific research in Botany is concentrated on four major lines of palynology: Palynotaxonomy, Melissopalynology, Aeropalynology and Quarternary Palynology.
