Quotations:
"One of the most rewarding aspects of being a writer of nonfiction nature books for children is that I learn so much as I do my research. I also love the fact that I can go out birdwatching or down to the seashore, walk in the woods, or stroll through a meadow and still be working! Everything I see, smell, touch, taste, and hear can become part of a book. I find it much easier to write about something I have experienced firsthand."
"My main motivation for writing is to share my love and enthusiasm for nature with my readers, and I hope to kindle a similar lifelong joy in them."
Pamela was a member of the World Wildlife Fund, Canadian Children’s Book Centre, Writers Federation of Nova Scotia, and Federation of Ontario Naturalists.
On June 27, 1981, Pamela married R. Douglas Hickman, an environmental consultant. They have three children: Angela Lindsey, Connie Marie and Jennifer Lee.
