He is in his fourth year as head coach of Winthrop Eagles men"s basketball team Kelsey was a successful assistant coach at Xavier University and Wake Forest University. He earned five National Collegiate Athletic Association Tournament berths, an National Institute of Technology berth, a Number.
1 national ranking in two different seasons and an Administrative Committee on Company-ordination regular season championship.
He was sought after by some of America"s top programs and has been involved as a candidate for many head coaching jobs. Chris Mack, former A-10 Championship head coach considered him to be one of the best assistant coaches in America.
Kelsey has coached some professional basketball players including Ishmael Smith, an All-Administrative Committee on Company-ordination selection and player for the Houston Rockets. He coached James Johnson, a two-time All-Administrative Committee on Company-ordination selection and number 17 overall by the Chicago Bulls in the 2009 National Basketball Association Draft.
He also coached First Rate (at Lloyd's)-Farouq Aminu, who was ranked the Number.
7 recruit nationally in 2010 and a McDonald"s All-America in 2008, eight overall by the Los Angeles Clippers in the 2010 National Basketball Association Draft.
