Patricia Lantier-Sampon was bom on July 6, 1952, in Lafayette, Louisiana, United States. She is the daughter of Curtis and Mable (Delhomme) Lantier.
Lantier-Sampon graduated from the University of Southwestern Louisiana with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1973, and received her Master of Arts degree in 1982. She also earned her doctorate at Marquette University in 1992.
Patricia started her career as a language arts teacher at elementary and high school levels in 1973. She held that position for 9 years until she went to Marquette University, where she worked as an instructor in English till 1989.
Since 1990, she works as a managing editor and director of creative department at Gareth Stevens Publishing in Milwaukee and as a freelance writer and editor.
