Career

Paul Bauman started his career as a journalist when he was in high school. He wrote a story about the baseball team for his high school newspaper. When he graduated from Stanford University he started to work in International Tennis Weekly as an editor and after that in Reno Gazette-Journal. He spent one year in Tokyo working at Japan Times as senior sports editor. Since 1992 Paul Bauman works at Las Vegas Review-Journal.

In 1996, he received a call from someone at Bonus Books in Chicago, asking if he’d like to write a book about lifelong Las Vegas Andre Agassi, an American retired professional tennis player. He agreed, but Agassi declined to participate. However, Paul Bauman had spoken to him enough in the past and was able to talk to enough other sources that the problem was surmountable.
