Career

Commissioned ensign, 1913, advanced through grades to captain, 1941. Served on United States Ship Wyoming in occupation of Vera Cruz, Mexico, 1914, on destroyer operating out of Queenstown, Ireland, World War I. Became naval aviator, 1920.
