Paul Cummings was born on January, 24 in 1933 in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, United States. He is a son of Rose (Vollrath) Cummings.

Education

Paul Cummings received his education at University Minnesota in 1951 from 1953. He also graduated from Goldsmith College in 1954.

Career

Paul Cummings started his career as an independent corporation consultant in New York City in 1961. From 1966 to 1967, he was a director of oral history at Archives American Art in New York City. In 1970 he became an editor for Journal Archives American Art and Archives American Art in New York City.

In 1970 Cummings founded Print Collectors Newsletter. He was also an adjunct curator of drawings at Whitney Museum of American Art from 1976 to 1987.
