In the Autumn of 1992, when Clinton fever was running high, Paul Greenberg of the "Arkansas Democrat-Gazette" attended the National Conference of Editorial Writers. His peers there confronted him, expressing doubts about the highly critical editorials and columns he was writing about presidential candidate Bill Clinton. They were a variety of warnings that Clinton had a long history of indecision, that he had no principles he wouldn't sacrifice to win the election, that he presided ofer a disorganized staff and that he tended to shave the truth. In 1994, the same editorial writers were treating Paul Greenberg as a prophet. This is a compilation of unsettling truths about Bill and Hillary Clinton from a Pulitzer-Prize winning journalist who gave Bill Clinton the nickname "Slick Willie", and early on described President Clinton's political character, tactics and approach.

On September 27, 1980, then Arkansas Governor, and future president, Bill Clinton addressed the state convention and depicted himself as in the tradition of progressive governors in the state.
In response, Greenberg dubbed Clinton "Slick Willie" and alleged he was a false reformer who was abandoning the progressive policies of previous governors such as Winthrop Rockefeller, Dale Bumpers and David Pryor.
The phrase Slick Willie would go on to be frequently used by Clinton"s opposition throughout his political career. He is the father of journalist Dan Greenberg.
