Paul Hill was a visiting professor at Sheffield Polytechnic and Derby Lonsdale College of Higher Education, both in England. He has also been director of the Photographers' Place (the UK’s first residential photography workshop - at their Peak District home) since 1976. Previously he was a lecturer in photography (1974-1978) at Trent Polytechnic. He was also a freelance photographer for various British and international publications and industries from 1964 to 1974.
Paul Hill has also lectured on three BBC-TV programs: "Exploring Photography" (1978-1979); "Grass is Greener" (1977); and a profile of Paul Strand on "Arena" (1976).
Paul Hill has written two books on photography Approaching Photography and Dialogue with Photography and has had two monographs White Peak Dark Peak and Corridor of Uncertainty published.
