1912 began teaching chemistry and physics at secondary schools in Moscow. 1915-1918 military surgeon. 1918 resumed school work as a teacher and physician.
1926-1935 assistant professor, 1935-1947 associate professor, 1947-1953 head Chair of School Hygiene, Medical Faculty, Moscow State University. Simultaneously dean, Faculty of Sanitation and Hygiene, 1st Moscow Medical Institute.
Believed that the allround development of children requires a rational combination of mental and physical work. Studied the hygienic principles of physical education, which he considered to be an integral part of school life. Developed experimental method for school hygiene.
