Pavel Afanasevich studied at a music school. In 1931 he was admitted to the Special Group of Gifted Children at the Moscow Conservatory (class of Professor L.M. Zeitlin). He graduated from the Musical College at the Moscow Conservatory (1935), the Moscow Conservatory (1940).
Pavel Afanasevich was the artist of the orchestras of the Studio Theater of Simonov (1932-1934), various cinemas in Moscow (1934-1937, 1939-1940), the Bolshoi Theater (1938-1939) and other theaters.
