Pavel Dmitrievich Golokhvastov was a Russian historian, publicist, and philologist. He was known as a connoisseur of ancient Russian welfare, history, and folk art.
Background
Pavel Golokhvastov was born February 15, 1838 (Moscow, Russian Federation). Pavel was the son of D. Golokhvastov (1796-1849), who was a relative of A. Herzen. His father was the author of a number of works on ancient Russian history and literature.
In 1857-1858 Pavel Dmitrievich worked in the Moscow Main Archive of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and in 1858-1859 he took a position in the Asian Department. Then in 1882-1886 he was the magistrate of Zvenigorod district. At the beginning of 1882, Pavel Dmitrievich was summoned by the Interior Minister Ignatiev to Saint Petersburg to develop the foundations of this authority and was appointed to be an official of special assignments at the ministry. He conducted extensive correspondence with I. Aksakov.
