In 1909 Pavel Karpovich graduated from the Korostyshev teacher's seminary. In 1909-1911 he studied at the Kiev Theological Seminary.
In 1911-1914 Pavel Karpovich was a teacher in the schools of the Kiev province. From 1915 to 1917 he was in military service.
On the 20th of May, 1917, he was ordained deacon, and on the 27th of May, he was appointed priest to the Rostovsko-Borodychy church of Poltava. In 1917-1928 Pavel Karpovich was a priest in the village of Ozerki and of Volyn province. From 1929 to 1931 he was a priest of the Fastov city, Zhytomyr region.
In 1932-1936, he was serving a sentence in forced labor camps. Since 1936, Pavel Karpovich worked in the Krasnodar regional administration of national economic accounting.
From 1942 to 1945 he served as a priest in the Kiev and Krasnodar dioceses. On the 29th of September, 1958, he was tonsured as a monk with the name of Nikon, in honor of St. Nikon of Radonezh, and enlisted in the Brotherhood of the Holy Trinity St. Sergius Lavra. In 1959-1963 Nikon was a bishop of Ufa and Sterlitamak, in 1963-1964 - bishop of Voronezh and Lipetsk. Retired Reverend since 1964.
