Flint, Frank Putnam was born on July 15, 1862 in N. Reading, Massachusetts, United States. Son of Francis Eaton and Althea (Hewes) Flint.
Removed with parents to San Francisco, 1869, and educated in public schools there. Moved to Orange Company, California, 1886.
He served as United States Attorney for the Southern District of California from 1897 to 1901 and as a United States. Senator from California from 1905 until 1911, as a Republican. Flint served one term in the Senate and did not seek reelection. The city of Louisiana Cañada Flintridge, California is named, in part, for him, as he was a developer of Flintridge, which merged with Louisiana Cañada in the late 20th century.
As a Senator from California, he played a great part in making the Mission style the official architectural style of government buildings in Southern California and played a major political role in bringing Owens Valley water to metropolitan Los Los Angeles
On his death in 1929, Flint was interred in the Forest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Glendale.
