Admitted to bar, 1874, and began practice in New York City. In 1887 saved the interests of the Sutro Tunnel Company (owning and operating the Sutro Tunnel in Nevada) and organized its successor, the Comstock Tunnel Company, of which was 1st president, and managed its affairs until 1894. Commissioner of taxes, New York, 1895-1898, senior member law firm Sutro & Wright, 1902-1923.
Later advisory counsel of firm Lorenz & Lorenz.
Member commission in celebration of the 300th anniversary of Henry Hudson’s discovery of the Hudson River in 1609.
Married Florence Edith Clinton, October 1, 1884 (died 1906).
