1909-1914; judge Supreme Court of the Appeals, Virginia, term 1915-1927, president court, since 1920. Trustee Emory and Henry College.
A mature Christian can reach a state where the love of God reigns supreme in the heart. No one can be perfect in an absolute way, as God is. But it is possible to be perfect in love to God.
The state should not use its authority to promote particular religious beliefs, nor should it require prayer or worship in the public schools. However, the state should leave students free to practice their own religious convictions.
All individuals should be sensitive to others by using appropriate language when referring to any person.
