Worked as clerk in a commercial house, Louisville. Went to England as secretary and agent for his father to arrange for publication of Birds of America, 1832. Exhibited at Royal Academy in England, several times.
Returned to American, 1839, settled in New York City, 1840.
Exhibited at National Academy of Design, Apollo Association, American Art-Union. Became member National Academy of Design.
Collaborated with his brother on new editions of their father’s works. Painted miniatures, including one of his father exhibited at Carolina Art Association, 1936.
