Widely known in the mid-western states, the firm established a reputation m designing Catholic churches and institutional buildings, among the most unportant of which were the Church of the Sacred Heart and St. Francis Convent and Orphans Home in Dubuque; Sacred Heart Church at Fort Madison, Iowa; Church of St. Anthony in Milwaukee; and the original building of St. Marys Academy at Prairie du Chien, Wis., with a later addition completed just prior to Mr. Heer's death. Mr. Heer's practice also included schools, the Dubuque County Court House and other public buildings.
