AT one time leisure was an aspired goal, a state sought by all, for in it men could fulfill themselves and their loftiest aims: the search for truth and aesthetic experiences. The Function of society was to provide the freedom necessary to achieve this goal. However , this was along time ago and much has happened since. Leisure has changed from an ideal and virtue into a problem and even a vice. the function of society is no longer to guarantee leisure, but to guarantee work. A man professing leisure as his life's aim is frowned upon; instead, admiration goes to those who toil for the good for the nation and not to those who just want to be themselves.
