He was graduated in architecture at Columbia University’s School of Mines in 1889.
Mr. Pelton carried on an independent practice in the city over a long period of years. At one time he was associated with the Boston firm of Allen & Cohens in designing several churches, the most noteworthy being the Rockefeller Church on Riverside Drive completed in 1929, also worked on plans of the Park Avenue Methodist built on 86th Street, and the Home Welfare Group at Yale University s Medical School in New York.
In 1911 Mr. Pelton was appointed Trustee for a six-year term at Columbia University, and during another period served as Chairman of a committee in charge of alterations to the Hartley and John Hay dormitories at the University.
