Levi T. Scofield was born in 1842 in Cleveland, Ohio, United States.
William B. Scofield (his father) with whom he first began practice. Prior to that time however he served under U. S. officers in the Civil War, and attained the rank of Captain.
Probably Mr. Scofield's most noted work was the Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Monument in Cleveland's Public Square, on which he devoted his services as architect, engineer and sculptor. After being engaged on that project seven years Mr. Scofield established an office in a building which stood at the comer of Erie Street and Euclid Avenue, and until his retirement in 1915 devoted his time mainly to archtectural work.
It may be of interest to recall that Mr. Scofield was the first Cleveland architect to join the A. I. A., and as at that time (1870) there was no local Chapter he was assigned to the Cincinnati Chapter.
