Eek studied at Fotoskolan (The Photoschool) of Stockholm, 1968-71.
Eek works as a freelance photographer and writer, for Aftenposten, a newspaper on photography in Norway. She has also contributed to the Swedish photo magazines Aktuell Fotografi, Fotografiskt Album, Foto, and Fotograficentrums Bildtidning, and has illustrated school books since 1971. In 1971 and 1973 she taught at the Fotoskolan.
Eek won a five-year work grant from the Writers Fund of Sweden in 1977 as well as a memorial grant from Anna Riwkin Brick (1976), work (1974) and travel (1976) grants from the Writers Fund (Fôrfattarfonden) of Sweden.
In 1977 the film Vi bar inte slôja làngre (We don’t wear veils anymore), based on Eek's still photographs, was produced for Swedish TV-2. Made with social anthropologist Bent Backer of Oslo, it concerned Albanian women in Yugoslavia. Eek has photographed landscapes since 1966 and done reportage since 1967.
The photographer belonged to the Stockholm reportage group SAFTRA from 1969 to 1979 and belongs to Fotograficentrum [Photography Center] Sweden (since 1974, committee member 1974-75) and Svenska Fotografemas Fôrbund (Association of Swedish Photographers) since 1967. She was on the latter's authors' and illustrators' section committee between 1975 and 1978. Eek was also a member of Sweden's Fotografiska Muséets Vanner (Friends of the Photographic Museum) from 1973 to 1978 (on the committee 1973-76) and belongs to Forbundet Frie Fotografer (Association of Free Photographers) in Norway.
