Petr Tausk was born on January 24, 1927, in Prague, Hlavni mesto Praha, Czech Republic.
Petr Tausk earned a degree in chemistry in 1950 from Czech Technical University in Prague, Faculty of Chemical Technology.
In 1980 a scientific researcher in the Central Institute of Scientific, Technical and Economic Information in Prague. Petr Tausk was also a visiting lecturer in the Department of Creative Photography of the Film and TV Faculty of the Academy of Musical Arts in Prague.
As a historian, Petr Tausk concerned with the nature of creative photography and trends in twentieth-century photography. As a photographer, he worked in black-and-white and color.
