Anthony Barboza was born on May 10, 1944 in New Bedford, Massachusetts, United States. Anthony Barboza is the eldest of the eight sons.
From 1965 to 1968 Anthony Barboza was a U.S. Navy photographer and since then has been working on a freelance basis.After a three-year stint in the Navy, finding whatever photography work he could, Barboza returned to New York in 1969 and built a portfolio from test sessions he offered to aspiring models. His most recent conceptual photographic artwork exhibit, Black Borders, has toured internationally and was shown for the first time in New York City at the Bill Hodges Gallery in November and December 2010.
Anthony Barboza takes a critical look at the role and experiences of the African Diaspora in the historical as well as contemporary context of race, sexuality, gender, politics, and social issues in American society and culture. Barboza was a co-director for a TV commercial featuring his friend and jazz legend Miles Davis for Dentsu Advertising of Japan.

Anthony Barboza is married to Laura Carrington, a starring celebrity in the 1984 Lionel Richie video number 1 hit, "Hi there". She actually is also a groundbreaking daytime cleaning soap opera celebrity who performed the part of Simone Ravelle Hardy for the cleaning soap opera "General Medical center" from 1987 to 1989. They have already been married for a lot more than 25 years and reside in Westbury, NY with their three kids Danica Barboza, Alexio Barboza and Lien Barboza.
