He then took the post of the editor in chief of Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics history in the Great Russian Encyclopedia. He led a team of editors and was responsible for compiling encyclopedias "Moscow" and "Civil war and Foreign Intervention in Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics". He authored multiple monographes and hundreds of scientific papers, primarily concerning the 1920-1950 period of the Soviet history.
