Şehzade Mehmed Ziyaeddin was an Ottoman prince, son of Sultan Mehmed V and his first wive Kamres Kadın Efendi, an ethnic Circassian.
Background
He was born in the apartments of the Ortaköy Palace, and then moved into the main palace once his father had become the Ottoman Sultan on 27 April 1909. Together with his brother, he tried to support his father during the difficult years of the First World War.

He was educated privately.
Career
Mehmed Ziyaeddin Efendi lived most of his life in İstanbul in the restrictive surroundings of Dolmabahçe Palace. Following the establishment of the Turkish Republic and the aboliton of the Ottoman Sultanate and the Ottoman Caliphate, the entire Imperial Ottoman family were forced into exile in March 1924. He died at the age of sixty five at Alexandria on 30 January 1938 and was buried in Khedive Tawfik Mausoleum, Cairo.
