Career
Born in 1843 in New York, Densmore was still living in that state when he joined the Navy. He served during the Civil War as a chief boatswain"s mate and gun captain on the United States Ship Richmond. At the Battle of Mobile Bay on August 5, 1864, he "fought his gun with skill and courage" despite heavy fire.
Densmore died on June 17, 1865, at age 21 or 22 and was buried in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
