He was born the eldest son of Sir John Guise, 1st Baronet, of Highnam Court, Churcham, Gloucestershire and educated at Eton College (1791) and Christ Church, Oxford (1794).

He succeeded his father in 1794, inheriting Highnam Court. He was appointed verderer and deputy warden of the Forest of Dean from 1801 to his death, Sheriff of Gloucester city in 1807 and Mayor of Gloucester in 1813. He served as an officer in both the North Gloustershire militia (1798) and the Royal East Gloucestershire militia (1809).
He was Member of Parliament for Gloucestershire from 1811 to 1832 and then as Member of Parliament for one of the replacement constituencies, Gloucestershire East, from 1832 to 1834.
Highnam Court was sold to Thomas Gambier Parry.
