Career
Nicholls was a right-handed batsman who represented Master Control Console (1896–1903), Middlesex (1896–1904), AJ Webbe"s XI (1899), Public Finance Warner"s XI (1903), the Gentlemen of England (1904). He scored 1,732 runs (average 1681) in 72 first-class matches. He and Mickey Roche set a county record tenth wicket stand of 230 versus Kent at Lord"s in 1899, during which he made his maiden century scoring 154.
He also represented Rugby (1892–1893), Middlesex 2nd XI (1894–1896), Ishmaelites (1896) and Master Control Console (1906).
