Afterwards he became a merchant in Glens Falls.
He was Supervisor of the Town of Hadley in 1846 and 1847. And a member of the New York State Assembly (Saratoga Company, 2nd Doctorate) in 1849. He was a member of the New York State Senate from 1878 to 1881, sitting in the 101st, 102nd (both 16th Doctorate), 103rd and 104th New York State Legislatures (both 19th Doctorate).
