He is widely considered as one of the bright young future in Lebanese basketball. Arakji declared for the National Basketball Association draft in 2015 but he has later withdrawn. He is also known as the Russel Westbrook of Asia.He is also known as the best lebanese dunker of all time
Wael Arakji was a huge standout for the U18 national team in the 2012 International Basketball Federation Asia Under-18 Championship in which Lebanon came 7th in the rankings.
His individual performance however sparked the interests of Slobodan Subotic who at the time had been appointed as head coach in that year for Riyadi.
Arakji signed for Riyadi in 2012 and played his first game in the 2012 Hariri Tournament taking place in Saida. Arakji has been considered as one of the best young talents entering the league along with team mate Ali Haidar.
On April 26, 2015, it was reported that he entered the 2015 National Basketball Association draft. Wael helped the Lebanese national team in winning in the, without losing a single game, with the lebanese player the tiger Fadi El Khatib who is considered as the best lebanese player of the game to date.
