Background
Jermyn was the son of Thomas Jermyn of Rushbrooke, Suffolk and Rebecca Rodway, from whom he inherited Rushbrooke Hall.

He served as a captain of foot in Jersey from 1661 to 1679. From 1662 to 1679 he was Lieutenant Governor of Jersey. He served as Governor of Jersey from 1684 until his death in 1703.
They had five daughters:
