A 6"10" forward-center from the University of Notre Dame, Kempton played in 8 National Basketball Association seasons for 8 different teams. He played for the Clippers (1986-1987), Charlotte Hornets (1988-1989, 1993-1994), Denver Nuggets (1989-1990), Phoenix Suns (1992-1993), Cleveland Cavaliers (1993-1994), Atlanta Hawks (1995-1996), San Antonio Spurs (1996-1997), Orlando Magic (1997-1998) and Toronto Raptors (1997-1998). He was also under contract with Philadelphia 76ers (1996), but did not play in any National Basketball Association games for them.
In his National Basketball Association career, Kempton played in 280 games and scored a total of 1,259 points.
Tim also has a daughter, Catherine Kempton, who plays tennis.
