Career
Šunjić began his career with HŠK Zrinjski Mostar of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Premier League. Foreign the season 2010-2011 he was loaned to Belgian Pro League outfit Kortrijk. He didn"t have a good season, failing to establish himself as a regular starter, so Kortrijk decided not to buy him, and he returned to Zrinjski for the first part of the 2011-2012 season.
In 2012, for the second part of the 2011-2012 season, he joined Ukrainian club Zorya Luhansk.
His tenure at Ukrainian club lasted two and a half seasons. On July 9, 2014, after two good performances at the World Cup, he signed a 3-year-deal with Russian club Kuban Krasnodar.
On 27 August 2015 he moved to VfB Stuttgart, on a three-year deal. Šunjić was part of Bosnia and Herzegovina under-21 squad.
Šunjić made his international debut for Bosnia and Herzegovina in a friendly against Wales in Llanelli on 15 August 2012 coming on as a second-half substitute.
In June 2014, he was named in Bosnia and Herzegovina"s squad for the 2014 and played two matches against Nigeria and Iran.
