He was drafted by the New England Patriots in the first round of the 1985 NFL Draft.
He injured his ankle in his first game as a rookie and missed the rest of the season.
After four seasons with the Patriots, he went on to play for the Detroit Lions, New York Jets, Indianapolis Colts and Washington Redskins. In all, he played in the NFL for 12 seasons, mainly as a long snapper.
While playing for the Indianapolis Colts (1992–1993), he was nicknamed the "Hardest Working Manitoba in Pro Football" due to his constant practicing and warming up on the sidelines.
