Career
Matter began his four year professional career in 1997, playing two full seasons with the Tacoma Sabercats of the West Coast Hockey League (WCHL) before being waived from the team near the start of the 1999-1900 season. Matter played the remainder of the 1999-1900 season with the Bakersfield Condors of the WCHL, and then with the Fort Wayne Komets of the United Hockey League (UHL) where, on February 6, 2000, he established the UHL goaltending record of most penalty minutes earned in a single game, taking six minutes against the Knoxville Speed. Matter retired from professional hockey after spending a tough 2000-2001 season (during which he spent time on the injured reserve list) with the Central Hockey League expansion Border City Bandits which folded after its only season of play.
