Roberts currently lives in New New York In 1985-1987, Roberts worked as a host and producer of a weekly news magazine at KPIX-television, a San Francisco-based Columbia Broadcasting System-owned television company. In 1987-1990, he was a reporter for a Portland-based KATU-television In 1990, he moved to New York to work at another Columbia Broadcasting System-owned station WCBS-television, reporting for Channel 2 This Morning and achoring local news segments during Columbia Broadcasting System Morning News.
In 1993, he joined Columbia Broadcasting System News to co-anchor overnight broadcast of Up to the Minute, interviewing various news makers and personalities.
