Career
Lander was drafted in the second round, 40th overall, at the 2009 National Hockey League Entry Draft by Edmonton. Prior to his National Hockey League career, Lander previously played for Timrå IK in the Elitserien, where his father, Anders Karlsson, is currently head coach. Since breaking into the 2007-2008 season Lander plays centre for Timrå IK in the Swedish Elitserien.
He has also represented Timrå in the junior league between the 2006-2007 and 2008-2009 seasons.
Lander was named one of the alternate captains for the team on September 22, 2009. On April 28, 2011, Lander signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Edmonton Oilers, and committed to play in North America from the 2011-2012 season.
Lander scored his first National Hockey League point, an assist on Lennart Petrell"s first National Hockey League goal, on November 3, 2011, against the Los Angeles Kings. Lander"s first career National Hockey League goal was scored on November 17, 2011, a short-handed goal against Craig Anderson of the Ottawa Senators.
Lander represented Sweden in the 2010 World Junior Championships held in Saskatchewan, Canada.
He served as an alternate captain for the Swedish entry.
