Career
Born in Rawalpindi, early in the 2002-2003 season Taj kept wicket for Pakistan Television in the Kardar Trophy, a grade-II departmental tournament. Against Attock Refinery, he scored a century, exactly 100, out of a first-innings total of 218, with only one teammate going on to make more runs for the tournament. Based on this form, Taj was selected for Rawalpindi against Peshawar in its last National Bank Patron"s Cup match of the season, by which time it had already been eliminated from the competition.
Rawalpindi retained its regular wicket-keeper, Mohammad Zubair, with Taj instead playing solely as a batsman.
Taj continued to play at lower levels over the next few seasons, playing grade-II Patron"s Trophy matches for Pakistan Television and occasional inter-district matches for Rawalpindi District up until the 2007-2008 season.
