He is Ireland"s most popular radio presenter, according to analysts, and is considered an institution in the north-west. He is also the promotions manager of Highland Radio. Shaun"s father was a native of Inishowen.
In 2011, Kim Bielenberg said in the Irish Independent that Doherty would be a natural replacement for Joe Duffy on RTÉ Radio 1"s Liveline.
He currently presents, on weekdays from 10.00am-1.00pm, featuring discussions and debates on current affairs Shaun himself is a key figure to County Donegal, Derry City and West Tyrone.
Not only does he make all local issues noticed but he also keeps the entire county itself entertained. The show is produced by Caroline Orr & Ciara Mackey & assisted Marion Potts.
In October 2010, Shaun was presented with a Donegal Person of the Year Award, recognising his services to broadcasting in the county, and also his commitment to the hospice movement.
He has been dogged by rumours that he is to move to a national radio station.
